Kim Lyons, President – MerchantSource®
Being the oldest of seven children born and raised on a working dairy, hog, and crop farm, Kim learned at an early age that with hard work, determination and respect for our land and life anything was possible. Kim learned to be creative and think outside the box which helped develop her “get it done” attitude.
After graduating from Vincennes University with an Associate of Science AgriBusiness degree she continued her studies at Purdue University in Economics and onto Indiana State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Kim left Indiana after graduation residing in southern California working for Southern California Edison, and then transitioned to the State of California Board of Equalization as a Senior Tax Collector in San Jose California. Kim relocated to Ohio in 1989.
In 1994 they saw an opportunity to work together and help businesses all across the country grow. MerchantSource® has helped thousands of merchants to maximize income potential by providing credit, debit and EBT (food stamp) card acceptance as well as processing checks and gift card payments from their customers. In 2004, Kim partnered with the State of Iowa Department of Human Services and was instrumental in development and implementation of the wireless EBT (SNAP), credit/ debit card Farmers’ Market program. This program offers free or seasonal rental of wireless equipment to farmers and business owners across the country. We have years of experience assisting farmers’ markets and/or vendors in wireless EBT/SNAP card acceptance.
Kim is the proud mother of Matthew who is serving our country in the United States Air Force, being certified as a Certified Bio Medical Electronics Technician.
Kim is active in USDA, FNS conferences as well as being a proud member of the Farmers Market Coalition and Community Food Security Coalition.
Kim’s hobbies include boating, beach, loves to travel, enjoys shopping and loves, loves, loves having family and friend
gatherings, and yes Kim can cook and bake!
